Court prioritizes healing

When Laurie Brister was elected as 6th District Judge in 2019, she made one of her main goals the creation of a drug court. She knew people whose lives had been affected by addiction; “no one can avoid it,” she said.

Accident delays garbage pickup

The driver of a garbage waste management truck for the East Carroll Parish Police Jury lost control of the vehicle Monday morning, flipping once before landing back on its tires in a ditch. Two of the three people involved in the accident were ejected from the vehicle and all three were taken by ambulance with injuries to the East Carroll Parish Hospital. The accident occurred on Highway 582, also known as Corbin Ferry Road. The police jury road crew attempted to remove the damaged truck with a road grader from the parish barn. The chain on the grader broke on the first attempt to remove it, but they were able to pull the truck out of the ditch on the second try. Three of the truck workers were injured. Gerald Shoemaker remains in St. Francis Hospital with broken ribs and a collapsed lung. David Branch was also transferred to St. Francis, but has been released.

They also set a time for a special meeting for advertising the 2025 proposed budget for December 12 at 10 am. Celebrating the lives of East Carroll residents

Christmas is sneaking up on me. I have already had two Christmas parties and I have about six more. Someone asked if I get tired. The answer is a big NO. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love the lights, the kids, and most of all the Gift that we received that day long ago.

Here's a recipe worth bringing from the past

I have a friend who regularly shares recipes from the 1970s and 80s on Facebook. Some of them are oldies but goodies, while others should remain in the 70s and never be mentioned again! Often during the holiday season, we may think back to our childhood and foods that were part of our traditions or past.
