Celebrating the lives of East Carroll residents

Football, food and fun! That’s what is on the agenda this week. Happy Thanksgiving day, everyone. It’s been an, oh, so busy week for me, and apparently everyone else. Be warned! Thanksgiving fell a lot later this year than usual, so you don’t have as much time to do all the things that you need to do. I am actually having a huge meeting and luncheon next Thursday, and I have been worried about getting everything done. Next year, I’m going to start putting my Christmas tree up in September.

Be thankful in all things

We should be thankful no matter the situation. God is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Everything in between He allows. We have to trust in the power of God and be thankful. Our focus should be on praising Him. This Thanksgiving let love be the reason for the seasons.

Briarfield takes state!

Nothing about Briarfield Academy’s football season has been predictable. Nearly every game was a battle and not without mistakes on the Rebels’ part. But time and again they proved that, when it mattered most, they would get the job done. They finished their story on Friday with a 36-18 win over Wilkinson County Christian Academy, becoming the Class 1A MAIS 8-Man State Champions.

Panthers keep fighting

General Trass had an easy time in the second round of playoffs last Friday, with a resounding 38-6 victory over the North Iberville Bears. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins as the team has won six matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Lawmakers cut some taxes, but raise others

Gov. Jeff Landry scored one of the biggest victories of his political career Friday when he managed to push major corporate and personal income tax cuts through the Louisiana Legislature, apparently without leaving the state chronically underfunded.

Kid's Corner: Make holiday break a time for some family activities

As the holiday season is approaching, there are a variety of ways to keep kids entertained during their time off from school or even just on the weekend. It is important to allow time for kids to decompress from their busy schedules but also encourage interactive activities together as a family to strengthen their physical health or mental well-being.
