Historic burial grounds catalogued

The Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation recently announced the Louisiana Register of Historic Cemeteries program, to increase awareness of the location of historic burials and the stories behind them. Starting with approximately 8,500 known points, LTHP is asking for the public's help in defining the bounds of the cemeteries and information about the people, markers and condition of the sites. They also welcome photos and information about a cemetery which is not currently included in the database. Director of LTHP Brian Davis said, “Our main goal with the program is to increase awareness of historic cemeteries for their continued preservation and protection.” For more information about the program or with any questions, please visit: https://historic-cemeteries. lthp.org/.
