Police jury votes not to renew the contract of secretary/treasurer

“Why?” was the recurring question at the Police Jury meeting last Tuesday, August 13, after the Police Jury voted not to renew the contract of secretary-treasurer, Natosha Davis. After the vote was made to remove her, Davis left the jury meeting, returning minutes later to sit in the audience. A packed house repeatedly asked jurors the purpose for terminating Davis. Jackie Folks, director of the East Carroll Housing Authority was the most vocal of the spectators. “Do you have someone in mind?” she asked the jurors. “Why are you doing this? Everybody wants to know.” Folks added that no one would know what to do at the office with Davis gone. “It’s a big job,” she said. “We just want to know your justification for the dismissal. Y’all have to have a reason.”
