Arrests for the week ending Feb. 26, 2024. East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office: 2/21/24 - Kelsi McDaniel, 27, was arrested and charged with forgery and theft. She was transported to Riverbend Detention Center and released on 2/23/24 on $11,000 bond.

Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) has recently been designated as a Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) test provider in Louisiana. This is a significant development, considering there was previously only one out-ofstate provider.

The East Carroll Housing Authority continues to deal with the fallout from their former executive director Kelsi McDaniel seventeen months after she was terminated. On February 16, 2024, it is alleged that McDaniel cashed a temporary check from the agency for $225 at Jong’s Supervalu.

The Town of Lake Providence regular council meeting was held last Thursday evening, and on the agenda were: a public notice to put a tax renewal for a one cent sales tax for street improvement and maintenance; introduction of an ordinance to lease a town building; approve a resolution to apply for a $2 million loan through the clean water state revolving fund loan program; vote to add $30 to delinquent tax notices.

Fire Chief Keith Larry, along with water & sewer supervisor David Watson, and Michael Britton, street supervisor, came before the mayor and board in the month of February. Larry told the mayor and board that there were a total of 13 fires during the month of January.
