Bill could address vehicle inspections

Louisiana is one step closer to eliminating the motor vehicle inspection sticker. House Bill 838 was passed unanimously by the house transportation committee on Monday while the legislature was in regular session.

Hospital plans to recoup storm costs

The East Carroll Parish Hospital Board agreed to “piggy back” off of the police jury to recoup its costs from January's Winter Storm Fern. The board voted unanimously last week to enter into a cooperative endeavor agreement with the jury to file with FEMA for their damages.

LOW NUMBERS

'We have been looking for a good used transit van, but nobody has anything.' Despite the numerous offerings by the East Carroll Parish Council on Aging, participants in the program are down. Council director Evelyn LeBeau said that she was not sure what was causing the decrease in numbers, but that it was a problem that they were attempting to address.

Volunteers chip away at town storm debris

A strong wind kept things cool, but didn’t deter volunteers at the Winter Storm Relief Day last Saturday, March 28. Volunteers met at 8 a.m.

Candler gets extra duties at Delta Bank

Delta Bank is pleased to announce that Aaron Candler has been named Security Officer. Aaron joined Delta Bank’s Lake Providence branch in December 2022 and continues to serve customers in his role as Consumer Lender. In addition to his lending responsibilities, Aaron will now take on the added role of Security Officer, further supporting the bank’s commitment to protecting customers, employees, and the communities we serve.

Easter event set for Sunday

A young man from Frisco, Texas, is bringing his ministry to Lake Providence on Easter Sunday. Christopher Emmanuel Scoby is holding an event for East Carroll Parish children at the former YO building at 1320 Sparrow St. “Scooby”, as he is known by his family and friends, is sponsoring the event on his own but was assisted by Tywanna Craig and Sucletter Brown-Crye.
