LEAP test scores increase for East Carroll students

East Carroll’s elementary and middle school LEAP scores, which had decreased last year, recovered back to 2023 levels, according to 2025 data released by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) last week.

Lawmakers nix most uses of speed cameras

Effective August 1, 2025, the use of speed cameras will be outlawed within the state of Louisiana. The one exception to the use of the cameras is inside of school zones, and that comes with stipulations. Governor Jeff Landry signed the bill into effect after it passed both the house and senate with bipartisan support.

Celebrating the lives of East Carroll residents

Good Thursday morning. First things first. I messed up last week and put the wrong name on the wrong family reunion. So I’m going to start this week out by correcting these reunion pictures. In the pretty purple shirts, you have the Jackson Stewart Reunion. And in the green shirts at the Louisiana Cotton Museum is the Blockwood family. I enjoyed seeing all the family pictures at both of these reunions and seeing the ones I knew. My favorite was the one of all the pretty girls sitting at the table together.

Program joins literacy, excercise in one activity

84% of youth are more active after the program. A Read & Ride pilot program was just completed by the LSU AgCenter in Caldwell, Franklin, Ouachita, Richland, and Union Parishes.
