BA showing out in basketball

The past decade has brought a lot of success to Briarfield basketball, and that trend is beginning to become institutional. Coach Blake Ratcliff is on his third season coaching all four of the school’s teams, junior high boys and girls and varsity boys and girls, and he said it isn’t out of the question that all four win their divisions and that varsity boys and girls have a look at state championships. “That’s the plan, anyway,” he said.

Football contest comes down to the wire

East Carroll Banner’s annual Football Contest will be a nail-biter, for sure. The top points-getters have been fairly steady over the weeks, but there could still be an upset once the contest is over next week.

Panthers earn playoff berth

The General Trass Panthers closed out their regular season in impressive fashion, bouncing back from a tough loss to St. Frederick with a 62–26 home win over the Delhi Bears on November 6.

Fight results in trips to hospital

Three women were arrested Sunday night in connection with an alleged fight. According to law enforcement officials, Andranika Martin, 21, Lotovza Clemens, 17, and Macy Clemens, 32, were at a housing complex on Third and Charles D.

Homecoming game nail-biter for Panthers

In a thrilling Homecoming showdown under the lights at Hamley/Collins Field, the General Trass High School Panthers delivered a dramatic 30–28 victory over the Delta Charter Storm, keeping their district record unblemished at 2–0. The win sets the stage for a pivotal clash next week in Monroe against fellow unbeaten St. Frederick’s — last year’s district champions.

After dominating rival Tallulah on both sides of the ball, the Rebels cruised to a big victory Friday night. With the game somewhat close at half (22-8), the Rebels added one more in the third effectively putting it out of reach.

Panthers blast Block, look to homecoming

The General Trass High School Panthers opened District 2-1A play in dominant fashion Friday night, shutting out the Block Bears 46–0 in Jonesville. The win marked the Panthers’ most complete performance of the season— combining a steady offensive rhythm with a smothering defensive effort—to improve their record to 3–3 heading into Homecoming week.
