The Mississippi River was expected to reach its highest level earlier this week, rising to 40.2 feet on Sunday. After that, barring unexpected and excessive amounts of rainfall from the Ohio Valley, the river will begin a slow descent, according to East Carroll Parish Levee Board President Reynold Minsky. He was reluctant to predict levels past the month of March, but said he would continue to give updates on what could be expected in the near future.
