Last month, students from Griffin Middle Academy and General Trass High School competed in the 22nd Annual Middle School Math Competition at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches.
The contest consisted of individual and team competitions. The exercises in each contest came from algebra, geometry, and other areas of mathematics, and not from any specific curriculum. The questions were designed to challenge students to draw from their knowledge of mathematics, to think, to synthesize concepts, and to solve problems. The competition is held annually and is open to students in grades 6-9. The students from GMA and GTHS would like to thank everyone involved in preparing them for this competition and they especially want to thank Jason Richardson for his encouragement, motivation, and contributions to the team.
