The Love Louisiana Outdoors grant money, awarded to the East Carroll Police Jury for building and updating outdoor recreational spaces, is being put to work. First up: Kendall’s Park (pictured above), which has already received the first round of playground equipment and the infrastructure around it. Soon the park will have updated bathrooms and a splash pad. “It’s great to see it happening,” said Police Jury President Kendall Thompson. “By the end of next month, this will look like a whole different park.” The other spaces that will receive equipment and facelifts: Kofi’s Park, Northside Park, and the East Carroll Parish Hospital walking trail. Jong’s Grocery celebrated 75 Years serving East Carroll community. Pictured at left is the booth the Jong family set up at Levee Fest in May to celebrate the milestone. The state Department of Transportation closed a portion of Highway 134 in order to repair and upgrade two bridges. Pictured above is one of the bridges spanning Joe’s Bayou. Gerald Bowers (pictured at right) sold Price Cutter store on Lake Street, ending a longtime family ownership, but making way for new ownership and a changed name to Still Here General Store.
