Sheriff Wydette Williams has announced two deputy promotions at the sheriff’s office recently. Tystin White has been named an investigator, and Gregory Campbell Jr. has been moved to the position of Lieutenant.
Williams says these two deputies are a part of a group of young men that have had a major impact on the department over the last few years. He said their promotions are well deserved, and he looks forward to working with them for years to come.
“I am very excited to promote Tystin and Greg to key positions at the sheriff’s office. I could write a book about the tireless efforts these young men have provided to the department these last few years. I started out as a young deputy myself years ago, and I always have a place in my heart for young people who join the department and work their way up through the ranks,” said Wiliams.
Williams said White and Campbell have solved many cases over the last few years and have shown an ability and passion for protecting and serving the community. “These guys not only have worked hard to solve the cases that arise when they are working, but they see other crimes that have been committed and they pick them up and work on them as well, and have some major arrests for us. That type of commitment has been recognized by all of us at the sheriff’s office and it has earned them the promotions that they have received,” said Williams.
White says he would like to thank Sheriff Wiliams and Chief Deputy Bill Hopkins for the vote of confidence in his work at the department, and he said he looks forward to continuing to work hard and be an asset to the department.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and I will go about it the way that I have throughout my time here at the department. We are committed to making this parish a safe place for our citizens to live, work, and raise their families,” said White.
Campbell said, “I want to thank the sheriff for helping me to develop into the deputy that I have become, and I will reward his vote of confidence by continuing to put forward every effort to do my job. I want to thank the citizens of this parish for also working with us to keep the community safe.”
