Learning to ride a bike with no training wheels can be exciting and scary for both parents and kids. Not to mention the killer backache parents can get trying to hold on to the back of the bike! Fortunately, there are handy trainer handles you can purchase to attach to the back of their bike that make it much easier to follow along with them and stand upright at the same time. I highly recommend them! Other than adding a handle, here are some tips that will help make the transition easier for both of you.

Oh Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, You are with us by the power of Your Spirit. There is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below. Every nation, tribe and people group belong to You and shall bow in worship before You The King. All authority in heaven and earth belongs to You! Power and might are eternally in Your hand, and nothing or no one can withstand You. Holy Spirit, awaken in Your people an unquenchable fire of an unconquerable zeal for Christ, that by the power of Your Spirit living in us we may live in the fullness of all that we were created to be. Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords, we SHOUT our joyful praise to You for who You are!

Over the next two years, young people in East Carroll Parish will be introduced to swimming, bird-watching, fishing and other activities through a series of LSU Ag-Center events and clinics designed to improve access to the outdoors.

Laurie Brister, judge for the 6th judicial district court, division B, was added to the East Carroll Parish police jury agenda last Tuesday to discuss a continual problem with leaks in the judge’s part of the East Carroll Parish courthouse.

During the public comment section of the East Carroll Parish Police Jury meeting last week, Phyllis Wyatt turned the video on on her camera, then asked if the jury had any update for herself and others who live on Henderson Loop. Road Superintendent Jake Robertson said that work would begin on that road soon. Wyatt cheered, turning the camera towards herself, and giving those watching a huge grin and thumbs up.

It was an old fashioned, western-style shootout across the street from Uncle Darrel’s on Second Street last Tuesday, with numerous shell casings recovered from three different shooters, according to East Carroll Parish sheriff investigators. Alfred Bliss was sitting on the bed of a truck during the shooting and got caught in the crossfire.

More East Carroll college students have been named to honor’s lists. Elizabeth Clare Stapleton of Lake Providence was named to Louisiana Tech University’s president’s honor list for the Winter 2024 session.

A 12-year-old was robbed at gunpoint last month while walking on Blount Street. Lake Providence Police Officer Kenneth Phillips was called to the General Trass High School football field where he met with the juvenile and his mother.
