Registrar addresses voter list

The 2024 presidential primary election in Louisiana is scheduled to take place March 23, 2024. East Carroll Parish Registrar of Voters Renee Jones said anyone who has not voted in two consecutive presidential elections has been placed on the inactive voters list in accordance with R.S. 18:193. The list of inactive voters was published by the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office on page 7 in the December 14, 2023 issue of Providence Journal. You can find the list at www.eastcarrollbanner. com by searching Public Notices (look on the right side of the page to see the search widget) The secretary of state’s office said it removed 52,000 inactive voters from the state’s voter rolls after the last presidential election. The state’s election commissioner said election laws require the purge of registration rolls once every two years or so. This is the process of removing the names of people who have missed two federal elections, and have not responded to a letter mailed to them by the local registrar of voters to verify their voting information, such as their address of record.
