BA softball leaves it all on field in tourney

It was a bittersweet tournament for the Briarfield Lady Rebels softball team as they sought the North State Championship. The Lady Rebels played six games overall, winning three and losing three. Unfortunately, all three losses came at the hands of Tunica Academy, making Tunica this year's state champions. The Lady Rebels were denied their fourth state championship in a row after a very successful season that left them state runners-up.

Town hires one officer

The Lake Providence Board of Aldermen last week hired a police officer and gave approval for some homecoming events in town. After the board voted to add two items to the agenda, it approved a request from a group comprised of Ronata Johnson, Ronnie Anderson, and Tony Hampton who are organizing, with support from Kerry Grey, General Trass principal, “Stop the Violence” activities at the community center over home- coming weekend, which starts tomorrow.

Contest leaderboard gets another name

The upsets continued in college football this past week. According to the AP, top-ranked Ohio State was the only team in the Top 25 that did not change spots in its poll.

Celebrating the lives of East Carroll residents

What a busy week last week was with homecoming activities, and now we’re having another busy week with more homecoming activities. But isn’t it kind of fun? There’s excitement in the parish and at the schools. Last week, I talked about the door decorations at Briarfield. I am going to include them this week because, well, they promoted the paper. So that makes me a little biased.
