The Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation is seeking information about historic cemeteries in East Carroll Parish to add to its Louisiana Register of Historic Cemeteries. The organization recognizes cemeteries among the most valuable historic resources of the state for their information about events, religion, lifestyles, and genealogy of a local community.

Hospital hosts health fair on Sept. 9

East Carroll Parish Hospital Administrator LaDonna Englerth reminded the hospital board that the hospital would be hosting their annual health fair Tuesday, September 9 at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue to 1:00 p.m. Food and beverages will be served and door prizes will be awarded.

Town aldermen deal with police personnel

One Lake Providence Police Department officer was terminated last week, at the request of Police Chief Leroy Threats, by the town’s board of aldermen. A request by Threats to hire a reserve officer was not approved.
