I don’t know about y’all, but I want my May back, because it surely has left me behind. Where has this month gone? It seemed like a blink ago, it was April.

Surveillance video helped law enforcement identify three men suspected of a rash of recent burglaries in Lake Providence. The burglaries began in the late hours of May 5 and continued into the early morning hours of May 6. Several businesses were targeted in the break-ins, including the car washes located on North Hood and Sparrow Streets, the storage units behind the car wash, A.J.’s Eatery, and the ice machines on North Hood Street.

The East Carroll Parish Police Jury held its regular meeting on May 12, and chief among its agenda items was the hiring of Yvette Davis to fill the secretary-treasurer position which has been vacant since January. Davis was appointed for a six-month probationary period, which can be extended at that point until the end of the current jurors’ term.

Several East Carroll residents were recently named to The University of Louisiana Monroe Dean's List for the Spring 2026 semester. They are: David Bailey, Myara Glass, Maryanne Haley, Dakoda Vickery, and Tayori Walker, all of Lake Providence, and Destiny Scott of Transylvania.

Three people were shot when a verbal altercation that began inside of Mr. C’s Bar on Lake Street spilled out into the streets recently.
