Panthers look for win over Bastrop

General Trass is 3-0 against Bastrop since September of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success tomorrow, October 4. The General Trass Panthers will take on the Bastrop Rams at 7 p.m. in Bastrop.

BA football notches another big victory

Briarfield took out Columbus Christian Academy Friday night at home with a final score of 36-24. Head Coach Beau Travis laments that the team continues to start slow, displaying a reticence as they undertake play. “But they makebigplayswhenweneed to make them. And we win,” he said.

Despite not having the home-field advantage, the General Trass Panthers scored 48 points and limited the host Madison Jaguars to 12 in the Panthers non-league triumph on Friday. The Panthers now hold a 2-1 record.

BA gets gridiron win

Coming off of a bye week, Briarfield put a win on the scoreboard away against Tensas Academy. According to head coach Beau Travis, “it wasn’t pretty, but it was a W.” The off week may have led to a slowdown in energy for this matchup, but still the Rebels shut the Chiefs down 36-0.

Grand slam gives BA win

The defense recorded no errors, and pitcher Gracie Forman threw an almost perfect game in Briarfield Academy Lady Rebels’ win against Riverfield Academy on Monday. But in the end, the game belonged to Aubree Jones, the Lady Rebels pitcher and batting weapon.

Players vie for top spots in football contest

Scores improved over the first week’s picks with three contestants, Jim Lensing, Davis Holt and Tommy Brown, getting 18 games correct. Lensing gets the win based on the tiebreaker.

First Football Picks winner selected

The 46th annual Football Picks contest got underway last week and as usual some teams played up to expectations while others disappointed their fans. Locally, BA and GTHS were winners, as well as our state college teams with ULM, Grambling, Southern, Louisiana and LSU all coming out on top The top picker last week was Lola Ratcliff, the only contestant to pick 17 games correctly, missing only the Bengals loss to the Patriots, FIU over Central Michigan and ULM’s win over UAB.
