Celebrating the lives of East Carroll residents

I am so excited for ULM. The Warhawks (4-1, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference) handed undefeated James Madison (4-1, 0-1) its first loss of the season on Saturday night with a dramatic 21-19 victory at Malone Stadium. The win marks the first time a ULM football team has started 4-1 in the FBS era and is the best start since 1993.

Celebrating East Carroll lives

Happy fall, y’all. Although it really doesn’t feel like fall most of the time. But I’ll take this weather. It is cool at night and in the early mornings and gets hot during the day. Much better than being hot all the time. Whew!

East Carroll Parish

Celebrating East Carroll lives

Good fall morning, everyone. Hope you’re having a great day. I am on my way this morning, Lord willing, to a pipeline meeting in Delhi. I like to keep up with the pipeline sites in case of problems. It’s been a great week. On Tuesday, we had our monthly AARP meeting start back after a summer hiatus. I was told it was the best one we’ve ever had. It was a small but enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed the Briarfield Academy Junior Varsity and the General Trass High School varsity cheerleaders. The acoustics in the Northside Church of Christ fellowship hall made them sound so great. I had to testify in a trial (just chain of evidence) so I wasn’t there for the BA Cheerleaders (FYI, I go see them often, though).

LDCC and NELPCO celebrate lineworker class completion

Earlier this month, Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) and the Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative (NELPCO) celebrated the completion of their first Electrical Lineman Workforce course. The ceremony, held at LDCC’s Winnsboro Campus, marks a significant milestone in workforce development for northeast Louisiana and showcases the success of this groundbreaking partnership.

The East Carroll Parish Council on Aging began preparing for its utilities assistance program at its regular meeting last Wednesday. The board discussed the best way to decide qualifications and criteria for the assistance program.

Conservation district holds poster contest

For more than 50 years, a national network of conservation districts has helped Americans learn to conserve natural resources. This year, join the East Carroll Soil and Water Conservation District and America’s conservation districts as we participate in the annual Conservation Poster Contest.
