AgCenter to host recertification event

Schools tap students of year

The East Carroll Parish School District has announced its students of the year awards spotlighting three outstanding students. Winner at Griffin-Southside Lower and Upper Elementary School for grade five is Zalayah Kellis Green.

Together for Hope Louisiana

Together for Hope Louisisana, based in Lake Providence, will hold its final diaper giveaway for eligible residents Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Teachers get extra payment

East Carroll Parish School Board employees got a nice surpriseintheirlastpaycheck issued Friday, November 7th. School superintendent Meagan Brown informed the board that each employee would receive an additional $5,250 in supplemental pay. Brown explained that the amount received would equal about $4,700 after normal withdrawals were held. She emphasized that the supplemental pay would be received by each employ- ee equally. “We are the only school district in the state that gives equally to all employees,” Brown said.

Police jury sells Sullivan's Park

The third time was the charm for the East Carroll Parish Police Jury, when they finally accepted a low bid and sold the property known as Sullivan’s park. The land, a 29-acre parcel located across the levee at Alsatia, was purchased by Sonny Muse for a bid of $45,000. The jury had advertised the property for sale twice in the past but had not received a bid.
