This November, the East Carroll Parish Library invites the community to enjoy a festive and educational stroll with its latest Story Walk installation, featuring A Short History of Thanksgiving by Sally Lee.

A full house was on hand last Wednesday, Oct. 29, to assist George Fox in celebrating his 90th birthday. Mr. Fox thought he was coming to the courthouse to take family photos. He was completely surprised when he was greeted by former co-workers, current court officials, judges, and family and friends.

Milton Andrews is the weekly winner in the East Carroll Banner football contest. And, as the contest nears the home stretch, our overall leader board is thinning out. Tied for the lead again are Bryson Rachal and Van Hicks Jr. Several pickers near the top of the overall points game had lower-than-normal scores this week, making it anyone’s game.

Beware! Ghosts and witches, princesses and superheroes, cowboys and other interesting looking critters were roaming the streets of Lake Providence Friday night looking for treats and not tricks. The community offered a lot of alternatives for our trick or treaters with trunk or treat at Jongs and the school, trick or treating at various businesses Friday morning for grades PreK-3 through third grade, and community trick or treating Friday night. Being on hand to enjoy seeing these little ones is such a treat for me. I have photos galore I hope to get posted soon. But here’s a few for your enjoyment.

Donations are coming in to fill the annual Elderly Project Christmas gift bags, a project sponsored by the Make A Difference Committee. The bags are charmingly decorated by members of the First Assembly of God Church, led by Linda Waller, and by the JAG students directed by Sharolyn Gibson.
