Former resident to lead journalism program

Board grapples with debt, deficit

With a $223,381 debt from Winter Storm Fern cleanup and the decision by the Town of Lake Providence Board of Aldermen last month to continue funding the police department, the town could be facing a $500,000 deficit this fiscal year.

Small magnolia for small spaces

With a name that calls to mind cuddly childhood toys, it’s hard not to love the Teddy Bear magnolia. This Southern magnolia cultivar, which was found as a chance seedling, derives its moniker from the deep rusty brown, fuzzy undersides of its glossy, green leaves.

Celebrating the lives of East Carroll residents

I have to start this off with a baby announcement. We’ve been keeping up with when this little girl was coming, and grandpa was so excited to let our study group know about it. Happy birth day and welcome to the world Lily Paige Brister. Lily weighed seven pounds 10 ounces, and was 20.75 inches long. She is the daughter of Jacob and Riley Robertson Brister. Her grandparents are Andy and Laurie Brister, and Butch and Paige Robertson.
